“Example is leadership.” Albert Schweitzer
The question is not: if you are a leader? The question is: Who are you leading? And, where are you leading them to?
There was a time in my life, right around college, where I thought I could hide. I thought I could escape leading. I thought I could live however I wanted: in relationships, with alcohol, and living my own dream, which turned out to be more like a nightmare.
The problem was, it didn't work. I was lonelier and more miserable than I'd ever been. And instead of distancing myself from people, instead of avoid leadership; I simply pulled many of my friends down to live my unsuccessful waste of a time right alongside me.
I've learned that I am a leader and it's God who gets to choose where I lead. So are you. And I think it's better if we allow God to tells us where he wants us to lead rather than selfishly picking and choosing our own way, a way that seldom works.
It's better if we learn to know God and allow him to point us towards leading.
When we follow God, leading becomes (not easy), but clear:
1. Know what is true (God + The Bible).
2. Make your decisions based on that (Know Your Place).
3. And call others to do the same thing (Help Other's Know Their Place).
Follow along as I talk about leadership + what it means to know your place in the world.
